Anyone not familiar with Dale McClellan and STS should go to their website. Dale was the original lead instructor at Blackwater, and left over philosophical differences and to start his own company. They were very involved in LEO training until 9/11, and then were in such demand for DoD contracts they have not been seen much on these or other forums.

I will say hands down that Dale, and by extension anyone he hires to work under his direction, is one of the best, least pretentious, gifted instructors out there.

any questions, feel free to contact me.

Quoting Shaun Claussen, in another Forum

"I'll second what Ron has to say about Dale McClellan.

I attended one of the first tactical pistol courses at Blacwater and Dale was my primary instructor. A very talented shooter and gifted instructor he has the ability to break technique down to it's simplest form and put it in a format that makes sense to you and how you understand it. In my opinion, this capability is what seperates an instructor from a teacher, especially in small arms instruction.

Dale is also very down to earth and has an intensity level that could be described as "youthful enthusiasm." Think Howdy-Doody on crack and that may be a more accurate description.

The STS website may be a little mis-leading in that it explains more about the government contracts they currently have vs. the small arms classes they offer. One look at the client testimonials should clear it up however.

Dale, more than anyone else since, has provided for me a solid foundation in how I work with firearms, my approach to training and assessment and ultimately how I teach.

If you have an opportunity to take a course from Dale you shouldn't pass it up. "

Dale is an outstanding handgun instructor: practical minded, methodical without being doctrinaire, and just plain fun to be around.

Dale was also the guy who helped me make the SEAL Team SIG $100,000 donation to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation a reality. In fact, if not for Dale, I never would have heard of SOWF.
