I picked up a couple new m4 stocks, the spring measures 11 3/4". I understand the TM states 11 1/4" max. The vendor states this will not be an issue, I felt I should check here first.

thanks!

I have a Tubbs Chrome Silicon Flatwire Buffer Spring in my carbine and it measures 15.5" (but it's a flatwire). Here's some independent data (http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:7AkO1zHjXysJ:www.68forums.com/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D1%26t%3D2998%26view%3Dprevious+tubbs+flatwire&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a) on this particular spring.

I don't think I would be overly concerned. My first instinct would be to test the springs in a weapon that is known to function and see if any issues develop.

I agree. I wouldn't even be worrying about measuring a spring unless I was getting malfs of some sort.

I only measure the springs when I am doing my inspections and I suspect that they are too short.
