I got the e-mail about these this morning.

I like the thumb safety on the M17. I will have to pass on this one

Flat trigger and no safety? Hard pass. Kinda defeats what I like about the M17/M18.

Who wants a safety on a striker? My number one requirement for a carry gun is that all you have to do is pull the trigger, Jigger!

I carry a 365XL with the thumb safety. Fantastic gun. I learned to shoot with a 1911. Never found the TS to be a problem. Makes me less nervous when I reholster

Seems like its bringing the red dot mounting system to the public. The M17 red dot is supposed to be a really good dot.

My kid had the Legion X5, and I love that pistol. If this runs cheaper than the Legion, I might be tempted.

I think this around 1400 bucks.

The P320 platform is the only striker fired gun I’d want a manual safety in. I had an AD with my P320 carry. I don’t really talk about it because nobody believes me when I say my finger was nowhere near that trigger. When I bring it up all I get is, “Well, you musta done something”. And 99 times out of the 100 you’d be right. I had just unholstered it, laid it on my desk and boom. Sent it to Sig…..clean bill of health. I sold it with full disclosure.

I’ve been handling and shooting pistols for 40 years…..I have had two ADs during that time that were absolutely my fault. I can admit when I **** up. I didn’t give ANY credence to the stories going around about the P320 being unsafe. They all musta done something. Then it happened to me.

I really like the pistol though…..and I would consider buying another…..WITH a manual safety.

Holy crap. That's spooky.

I think that if you need a manual safety to keep the pistol from accidentally discharging, then it's time to look for another pistol. There are plenty without that feature.

I own three p320’s none of had issues but I don’t carry them. My carry guns are M&P’s.

I get what you’re saying. And I know my statement that I would even consider going near one again after my experience is very weird. But I really like the looks of that M18X. And with a manual safety at least I wouldn’t be worried about it trying to kill me every time I took it out. I don’t think I would ever feel comfortable carrying one of these pistols ever again. But as a range toy and part of the collection…..probably.

I can understand it as a range toy if you really like it. I have a few really old pistols that would not be safe to carry, but I enjoy shooting them at the range. They just don't get loaded until I'm at the range and they're pointed in the right direction.

And here is a fine example of why I will NEVER carry one. Range toy fine but carry, no way. Shame really..

The manual safety is just a trigger block.

If I had the cash on hand right now, I would go out and buy a M17X and a M18X. I am not the least bit concerned whether they have a safety or not.
