Impressive versus the norm. Admits they screwed up and apologizes for it instead of circling the wagons.

Also good(and surprising) to bring up is the other details of their screw up such as the victim getting fired and the problems with informants.

That, my friends, is behaving with Honor.

It's rare, but it's out there. Good on that sheriff.

Using Drug Informents is wrong.
I'm glad this got straightened out.

Why is it wrong?

Why is it wrong?

The most likely informant is someone you've caught with drugs. You've got them over a barrel and if they are a user, they are going to be hurting for dope.
So now you have a Dealer, who's likely a user under pressure to give up identities, so who's he going to "Give Up?" It's very likely not going to be his source, it's more likely to be someone at his level (rival) or lower on the drug food chain (user).
If you're talking about Heroin or Crack or even powder Cocaine the next guy up, his supplier has a lot more at stake than he does.
Busting someone like the Informant for grams is one thing, once you get up to serious weight these Informants know they will die if it gets back to their Source who ratted them out, so you're likely to never get that guy this way. Thats the guy you want right?

In this case of misidentification, it could be a random somebody that just happened by, or someone who has nothing to do with the drug trade.
But they gave him up because they were under pressure to give up someone, and in this case anyone.
Now if you believe the story where it says someone looked like someone else and had a very similar name, I've got some Ocean Front property in Arizona for you.

Fear and intimidation are used to get someone to talk, they also have a drug history and perhaps might not be the most stable person. Are you willing to use that guy to be a witness and implicate others?
Bear in mind it could be you, or someone you love he points the finger at.
