The above is a breakdown of what's going on.

I think it depends on Tyson's wind. That's a hell of an age spread, but Tyson is tough when he's trained and wants to fight.

We have a thread on the hunting forum & half think it's already rigged for jp...if it's legit, I got mike within the first two rounds.

Grew up with the guy / been seeing his current training vids & still got the hammer...I know nothing really of jp, but this needs to be a sprint for tyson & can't get drug into marathon.

I bet he never would have turned into a thug if his early trainer didn't die so early in mike's career.

Will NEVER forget the ear chomping!!

Cus D'Amato adopted him as a street kid and trained him, he worked with Kevin Rooney then, but Cus held the reins. After Cus passed Rooney couldn't control Mike anymore and he slipped to the dark side.
He seems to have leveled off, I'm glad he wants to figh again, but at this age?

George Foreman beat the snot out of quite a few boxers well into his 50s. I remember watching him fight a South African named Pierre Coutzer. I thought the old man was going to lose that fight. Not so.

My money is on Tyson

He lost to Tommy Fury who was one of the few professional fighters if not the only one that wasn’t a washed up has-been or out of their prime. He’s a punk just trying to make money. He’s a decent boxer otherwise. I think this will be one of his most challenging and I hope Mike embarrasses him.

I have never been a Tyson fan (although I think he was railroaded on the rape charge he did time for). Having said that, Tyson will be 58 when they fight; I am 58 now, so I gotta go with the "old guy".

I'm not going to catch you listening to the "Rocky" theme song while jogging am I "Old Timer?"

Nope, you sure won't. I do cardio (bike on a trainer in the basement for now), but my running days are over unless I absolutely had to! Had both knees replaced in 2019 and the left one replaced again 7 weeks ago, so no you won't see me running playing the theme from "Rocky".

i told a buddy of mine, a Cowboys fan, I think they both go out in the first round. No one wins in that stadium, they choke. He didn’t see the punch line coming. Seriously, I think iron Mike knocks him out in the 1st or 2nd round. If it goes longer, I think Mike’s age makes it an uphill battle for him.

I just think that the years of training and the innate nature of Tyson will win out. He’s an animal, and like those tigers that everyone thinks are tamed, you tickle their inherent nature and you’re dead before you know what happened.

I agree that Tyson runs the risk of getting gassed, but that just fits into Tysons Blitzkrieg fight method. He still has to have some cuts that can lay out any human.

I have zero interest in anything Tyson does. Street thug who graduated to ear biting POS.

I was wondering when someone would make a thread about this. Tyson looked pretty good in his exhibition fight with RJJ a few years ago. Paul never really learned the fundamentals of boxing and leaves his chin exposed, easy target. The kid can hit, he knocked out Tyrone Woodley, but he's a shitty boxer. Tyson is a former heavyweight champ. All that being said, it could all be rigged and it probably is. I feel like Anderson Silva could've won the fight against Paul but held back, it was probably rigged. These old UFC fighters and boxers he's fighting are getting a nice payday though. The whole thing is a joke and I'd never pay a penny to watch it, but I hope Tyson kicks his ass.

Agreed. While he was a damn good boxer (one of the best) he WAS beat, in his prime. Not often, but it did happen. Buster Douglas did it in 1990, when Tyson was 24yo. He's not invincible, and Father Time does none of us any favors.

One punch to the mouth will cancel JP plans

If you see him spar with the trainer, although padded pretty good, he's throwing body shots at about 50%. Go back and watchi him again, I'm thinking if he goes to the body, Paul isn't going to last long, but he will pee blood for a week.

Maybe they can do a double header with the Musk/Zuckerburg bout.

Silva has that low guard that got him into trouble like his later MMA fights. Did you see the Jake Paul / Nate Diaz fight? Sure JP stung him several times early but if Diaz had taken the fight seriously he could’ve embarrassed him. He had JP pretty gassed.

Anyways, I think JP will try to take Tyson early with power shots like he usually does opponents because he doesn’t have the stamina to put anyone decent down after the 4th or 5th round.
Plus I read JP is moving up to heavyweight. Even more reason he will gas out early. Tyson has enough conditioning to know to wait and measure him up. Then it will be downhill.

Yeah I saw either the highlights or maybe the whole fight later on YT after it happened, I seem to remember seeing JP looking red faced and completely gassed and clinching desperately at the end of the fight with Diaz. True, Silva had the low guard, but he's an elite striker, he has the right to use a low guard. Jake jumped into using a low guard without ever having really learned the fundamentals, he wanted to look cool like Floyd Mayweather or something with the low guard, but he never actually earned that ability, his boxing is trash and he just sticks his face right out there to hit. It was pretty clear Silva was holding back, did you see how easily he KO'd Tito Ortiz in the boxing ring before the Paul fight? Nate seemed to be taking the fight only half seriously. These YouTuber boxing fights are such a joke but for some reason I can't help but watch them after the fact just to see what happened, maybe just out of morbid curiosity.

Ha ha. I hadn’t seen the Ortiz fight. Looked like Silva caught him on the ear or temple with a hard shot and it was lights out.

My only point on Silvia’s low guard was it’s just a style choice. He takes a risk but gets the reward when he can see clearly and land shots. He sure put on some masterclass MMA fights.

The main reason I watch fights is appreciation of the strategy. It’s crazy how some guys can see moves ahead of time and just systematically break down the other guy. I usually don’t worry too much about the personality.

JP knows he has youth and more muscle mass on his side so it’s going to be funny to see him eventually get dropped.

If this fight actually pans out, it will be simple:
I think Tyson still has the edge in striking power. I watched a few of JP's other fights to catch up, and he seems like he's got some stamina and can hit, but he can't hit *that* hard. Diaz was like half Tyson's size and younger, JP dropped him to the mat once, but then couldn't seal the deal.
But Tyson is pretty old, AND still a big dude, and I think JP will by far have the stamina edge.

So the game will be, Tyson has to come out of that corner full blitkrieg mode while he's still fresh, and try to finish the fight fast, all power shots, he hasn't got time to play it out.
JP will have to survive the initial bullrush long enough to get an opening to land his own hits. I'm not sure he'll actually be able to win by KO, but if he can hang on long enough to win on points/exhaustion on Tyson's part, he could take it.

That being said.... I'm no expert on boxing, but JP sure does seem to open up a lot when he strikes, maybe over-extending a bit? It's only going to take Tyson slipping one of those mistakes for JP to run right into a classic Tyson one-shot.

Tyson is old, but still a better boxer than 80% of the boxers out there, and 100% better than just about all of us. He was a generational fighter. Short span, he worked very well inside, and his hooks and cuts were legendary. Also very agile and efficient for a man of his size.

I would think about the only two things that will affect him is cardio for long, and maybe a drop off in power because of his age.

He has to get it done in 2 1/2 rounds.
If this is a No BS fight he will come out and strike hard and quickly. He should (and likely will) go hard to the body to drop his guard and then it's over.
