Is there a secret to carrying a G19 IWB near the appendix? Digs into me like it's cool. I tried it but I went back to carrying IWB at 4:30 again.

What holster are you using? An Appendix Looper? Try placing the holster around the 12:30 postion or between the snap and first belt loop.

I use a holster a friend made for me. Do you guys adjust for cant or just let it point straight down?

I put a little reverse can't in it, but the guys said to go straight up and down. Either way, it still digs.

I believe Rich at CCC puts a very slight negative cant on the appendix version of the Looper.

smart carry! :p actually probably not for the G19.
i'm planning on getting one for my G26 though. :p

it's an improved version of thunderwear.

From some of Todd's comments, I think my holster doesn't position the gun high enough.

From the look of the picture, you are left handed? If you wear it straight vertical, then the grip would be too low. Like under the belt? And if you twist the loop so that the gun cant one way or another, the grip will dig into your gut. I'm trying to find a politically correct way to say your buddy's holster isn't working. :)

Look at the Looper picture that another member posted. The belt loop is just below the grip. The grip would ride just above the belt, the closer to 12 o'clock the more comfortable for me.

Very good analysis, Sam. I don't think it's working either. I'm right handed, that pic was taken when I didn't have use of my right arm.

Looks like I need a Looper.

Yepper :)

I'm not sure if Rich has the option for the appendix version on his website. If not just put that you want the appendix modifications in the remarks section.

Stupid question but what does negative cant refer to?

Pistol grip leaning back if the gun were on your strong side.

Opposite of Regular (FBI) cant where pistol grip forward/muzzle back.

I use a simple DeSantis "Pro Stealth" holster.

However, I don't carry the extra mag as it's too much weight and width at the 12:30/1:00 position.

My GF's stomach is cuter lol, but this gives an idea how high the grip sits above the waist/belt line.

The IWB holsters at the 4:30 spot are comfy, but I'm a wide guy. Not fat, just wide, so regardless of shirt, they just don't hide on my body. Plus I can draw from the appendix area w/ less arm motion than reaching to my rear hip. Appendix carry is VERY awkward at first, but now I dont notice it.

Edit, I really like that CCC piece, but they don't make it for my off duty (USPc 45) or my duty weapon (USPf 45). Looks much better and more confortable that most kydex holsters that are two sheets riveted/screwed together...

Lil'l: Hit me up next week when I'm back from SHOT and we'll take a look. Sam was spot on, it looks like that holster is going to sit way too deep in your pants to be comfortable in any location. It's also probably very slow to get into your hand and out on target.

96GTS: Dude. Excellent.

He was right, I'm just going to order a Looper.
