canted extractors have never caused me a problem. yours just looks like the rearmost portion is misshapen. is that the stock Colt extractor? Does it cause problems? you should have another extractor fitted for your gun anyhow, put that one in and see if it turns.

Fitting an oversize FP stop can often correct your extractor clocking problem. Novak does make a drop in rear sight, but it looks like a beetle sitting on top of your slide IMHO. You're much better off sending your slide off to them and having them mill it if you want Novak's. IMHO, it'll look much less like an afterthought.

Looks like it may have been machined that way, easy to swap out if it bothers you but as long as it's extracting, it's just a cosmetic issue.

If it works OK, don't worry about it.

This is common in production quality pistols.

Basically, the extractor doesn't fit tight to the firing pin stop, allowing the extactor to rotate slightly, known as "clocking". It *can* sometimes result in extraction issues, but like I said, if it works OK, don't worry.

For a social pistol, this is something I'd have a gunsmith address (along with myriad other issues found with production level 1911s).

Social = fancy way of of saying it's for defensive use, not just for punching holes in paper.

As the post above says, fitting an oversized firing pin stop is a way to stop it from clocking.

Appears that just the end was not made properly for a smooth looking fit.

If it extracts properly, and is throwing brass without hitting you, I would leave it alone.

For a rear good rear sight without machining, I would suggest the Yost Retro. Slides right in, and provides for faster sight alignment, and overall sight picture.
