Does anyone have any experience with CMMG and their current production barrels?

Specifically, has anyone here used a 14.5 mid-length barrel from them?

Good, bad, indifferent?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jim

I have one of the original 14.5" CMMG uppers on my primary carbine and I've been very satisfied with it. Mine has about 8500 rounds through it now and has worked great. I think they've made several important changes since then so I'm guessing they are even better than before.

It may just be me, but I've seen more bad CMMG barrels than all other brands combined.

I have the 14.5 light version and just put it through a weekend rifle class and it ran fine. Its my new favorite rifle

I have 2 of their 11.5" barrels and haven't had any problems from either one. The shoot decent groups @ 100 yards, and better then I can @ 200

I'm getting a 14.5 A2 upper from them soon

What kind of problems have you seen?

Nope... it's not just you.

Its not just you two.

I have a CMMG barrel that I had to remove the taper pins from in order to get the front sight off. The pins felt like they were made out of butter and turned into mushrooms heads in short order. I ended up having to grind off the heads. Foolishly I called them and ordered some more taper pins, which when put in flattened out with one stoke from the drift. The pins look like they were not heat treated.

I'm running a 11.5" CMMG barrel with a Larue gas block, Noveske KX3 and a cutdown Larue 12.0" rail and it's run 100% in over 8K rounds. YMMV.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

Or in 8K rounds in 8 months, I guess it depends on your perspective and who built your gun. I guess I have a little higher average. ;) YMMV.

I knew there had been problems in the past with filling orders, but this is the first I have heard about their barrels actually having problems or being bad.

I have a CMMG 14.5" carbine and have had not had a problem; however, this particular upper is relatively new and only has 1,500 rounds or so down the pipe. Unless this carbine gives me problems in the future, I will probably buy more.

Steve and K.L. Davis:

I would like to hear about the types of problems you have experinced with these barrels and when or how recently those problems were noticed. Thanks.
