View Full Version : Motorcycle Riders?
Any other motorcycle riders here? Don't know about you, but I'm going through my mid-winter need to ride withdrawal phase. I can't wait for spring. Cleveland MC show will be at the end of the month, but that just makes it worse. Anybody transport their AR via motorcycle?
I used to ride. Then I wrecked.... Then I had an internal conversation about the amount of rather dangerous things I do on a daily basis and decided that riding on 2 wheels needed to be axed.
I miss it greatly sometimes but I'd rather spend the money on something with 4 wheels nowadays.
What are you riding?
2001-BMW K1200LT-Full dress tourer. :D
2002-Triumph Daytona 955i-crotch rocket :D
I have a 1996 CBR 900RR I bought in 1998 . .. . we have a bunch of miles together. Some of those years I was a T.W.O. It is still running strong. Thinking about a new bike in 2011.
Never carried a longarm on two wheels, but used to ride out to a gamelands range in PA, put up a target, run a mag or two and then pack up and leave on a fairly regular basis. Can't say I didn't think about slinging a rifle case over the shoulder for such sorties.

The link is a Google map of my sweet commute to the range. Getting there was as fun as the shooting.

I use to ride all the time. I had a 2002 Ultra-Classic. I even carried my AR on it. I broke it down and put it in one of the side boxes. A chest rig fit in there too. It was great.
Do these count?

Idiot. No offense.
Post your bikes!
BTW, we took it to Casa Bonita Saturday for a night out on the town.
Started life like the stock photo on the left, 1 highside and two lowsides later, a few repairs and a little aftermarket. . .. today it looks like the bike on the right.

I used to ride trails up in the mountains with my dad brother and friends. Occasionally my brother would sling his 10/22 across his back.
This summer my wife said I could bike as it will make commuting to work easier and where I will be at (eastern Oregon) its very rural and i have been toying with the idea of building a scabbard for my AR to take it up in the mountains. This is still very wishful thinking though.

Have you guys seen the price of the new 2009 honda cbrs?
600RR almost 10K
1000RR w/abs 13k
are people high?
You can get an 09 Ducati 1198 for 15K
and living in Alaska you can ride for about 6-7 months if we are lucky!
Yeah, I've noticed the prices were going really high lately.
Not sure what the deal is with that.

I think it may have something to do with last years sales. Now that fuel prices have dropped it will be interesting to see what happens.

2000 Honda St1100 is my normal ride, 2001 Suzuki GSXR600 is my middle age crazy ride.
I take the ST to IDPA and carbine matches, just collapse the stock, stick it in a soft case and bungee it to the seat along with the pistol bag. A dufflebag also works well if you break the rifle down.

Kinda like those posters of Ferrari Testarossa every kid had hanging on their wall growing up.
Z06!! Must be rough!
That is not a Z06, look at the car a little better. As for the riding, I have ridden a couple of times this winter down in the single digit weather. Just as long as there is no snow or ice on the road. Here are some older pics of my Warrior, I have re painted the tank since.
[QUOTE=Abraxas;292381]That is not a Z06, look at the car a little better. QUOTE]
YES - It is a Z06 - It's a 2002, the 1st year for the 405 hp. It has the optional red and black interior plus all the options available at the time of purchase. I bought it 12/10/2001 in FL - I was looking for a 6 speed conv but none were available ( old people wanted automatics) The dealer had this just come in and was worried that it would not move due to the 6 speed. I got a $3000 discount. Most Z06's were going for a $5000 premium at that time. It was my daily beater until 2004 when I got a new F-150 . It became my backup. The F-150 is gone - replaced by a 2008 JEEP SRT8. The JEEP is more fun than the Z06 - 0-60 in under 5 sec even in the rain!!!!!!!! Life is getting shorter - at my age, I most likely will not out last any of my belongings. I guess what my Dad said is true - We are on a irreversable match toward death - it's our choice if we want to enjoy it or not. I have choosen to enjoy what time I have left. GUNS, MC's, CARS and my family. I am enjoying all of them.
Sorry about that, I stand corrected. I had been told at a dealership that 05 was the first year for the Z06, my apologies.

Wife told me I was getting to old for a kids bike, sold my 2001 Ducati Monster S-4 last fall. What a mistake!!
Getting a little antsy here myself, been living in AZ for the past 7 years and as of Nov. we're now up here in sunny (lol) MN. Ah well maybe I'll appreciate the riding time even more this summer than I have in the past.

Right. I think the wife would actually kill me if I tried to pull that one off.
I do love my Triumphs. Best of both worlds (V2 & I4) in one package. Not to mention the sound when you open one up. Very very unique & more addicting than crack.
