I can't tell the difference.

The "M&P Pistol Action Package" is described here: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomContentDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&content=18302&sectionId=11522#ep

It says it will get a "Tuned Action" and they will "Install Performance Center Sear."

Is it possible they forgot to work on mine and sent it back without the special sear? Is there a visual check to determine what sear I have?

Have you tried firing and consciously resetting the trigger to see if there is a difference?

Did you measure the weight and reset of the gun before you sent it away?

How much pistol shooting have you done in the past?

How long was the gun at Smith? It's hard to "compare" two triggers weeks apart.

I'd be curious to know if there is a visual indicator of which sear is in the gun as well.

Did they send the original sear back with the gun? That would be very important to me.

Did they polish the feedramp on your pistol?

I should think the trigger should be noticeably better, both the release and reset. Slightly lighter and crisper on the release and more positive and controllable on the reset.

If memory serves, the standard sear is MIM and is greyish silver. I've never found out of the PC sear is steel, but I'm fairly certain it's coated and has a bronzeish color to it.

Scientific, I know, but it's better than a poke in the eye.

FWIW, measured pull weights for the M&Ps I've worked on have been in the 7-8lb range, while the PC sears I've seen are down around 5lb.

I've got some experience with side by side 9mm full size M&P's, one with and one without the action work. IMHO, on the one with the work, take up is the same, over travel was minimal or none and reset was next to nothing. How does that compare with yours?

A RCBS trigger pull scale shows 6 pounds pull.

Reset is 1/4"

Over travel is just under an 1/8"

I didn't take any measurements or try a trigger pull scale before I sent it in so don't have data on what it was before.

Is the sear visible with the slide off? I don't see any part bronze in color looking at it with a flashlight.

I don't know what to look for in polishing so here are some pictures in case you can tell:

I just called Smith & Wesson.

The Rep checked with the gunsmith and said yes the work was done. He said the .45s triggers do not come out as nice as the 9mm and .40s because they have a larger heavier spring.

I also asked him about sear colors and he said they were all silver.

I sent my .40 of to have the M&P special w/ pro sear. I also had Warren sights installed.

To be fair, I did not think the trigger was bad at all, a little vague in the reset, but that wasn't a problem for me.

The gun came back with a polished ramp, and a ever so slightly better trigger, with a little better reset. The sear does appear to have a bronze color to it.

My 9mm had a decent trigger also, and it is hard for me tell the difference, perhaps I'm not sophisticated enough, course I never got all caught up in the 4.5lbs "crisp" 1911 trigger either.
LAV compared the two, the pro-sear .40, and stock 9mm, and said the .40 was definitely better, but he also said the 9mm wasn't bad either.
At another class, he tried my M&P45 trigger, and noted while it was heavy, it was smooth with a good break. I think it would benefit the most from the new sear, and will be sending it off.....sometime.

Was it worth it? Hard to say, but I'll probably do it on any M&P I get, just to have the better part in the gun. Figure, even if I send it off to Bowie, he'll have a better part to work with.

My M&P45 trigger was a little heavy and gritty from the factory. I was very pleased with the way it broke in... I recently fired an M&P 45 that was worked on by Dan Burwell. I was very happy with my M&P 45 until that moment. His standard trigger job costs $65. The reset is shortened considerably as is the overtravel and weight. I was totally blown away by the transformation. Dan is on vacation but I sent him an email for a reservation to have my trigger worked on.

I have the FS 9 and the PRO. when I ordered the PRO, I was expecting a surprising difference between the triggers of the two.

what I found is that the PRO, with the PC sear, has a noticeably lighter pull, and a shorter take up and reset.

what it doesn't have is a crisper break, or a more distinct reset, which is what I was hoping for.

I don't know. maybe the trigger on my FS is exceptional but I don't feel like the trigger on the PRO is in any way "better", just lighter.

it could be just me, though...
