I have a little problem deciding whether or not to switch to this handguard. The features I like are:
1. Extended sight radius
2. Extra real estate for my IR laser
3. Built in sling swivels
4. More rail coverage over barrel/can
5. Larue's solid mounting system

What I don't like:
1. Would add 1" to the OAL of the gun with the can on
2. A little bit goofy looking:D

What would you do, keep it as short as I can possibly get it, or sacrifice the OAL by an inch to get a nicer handguard?

Here's the current setup:

ETA: I am now running an Eotech most of the time in the most forward position

How would the OAL length change by switching handguards?

Because the handguard is 8" presently, and I have a flash hider that reflexes the can over the barrel. By using essentially a 9" handguard, there isn't enough clearance to run the same flash hider/ mount. So the other standard mount would increase the OAL, not the handguard.

I'm thinking now that I should change to the Larue on that 10.5" 6.8 pictured above, and use the old handguard and reflexive mount on a 10.5" 5.56 and run a SCAR-SD with it. I guess it's kinda silly to shorten it up with a full size rifle can on the end of the 6.8.:D
