I have previously used open Blade Tech and Tactical Tailor rifle mag pouches for Practical rifle and Reserve 3-gun match use.

However I have noticed that when "beer canning" the magazine from a normal vertical mag pouch, mounted belt level, that you need to bend your forearm and wrist quite much.

I got a California Competition Works rifle mag pouch from SHOT and while looking at it today, I thought id try to cant it in a different angle. The pouch holds the mag very securely, but allows for a smooth withdrawal.

The pouch is McGyvered on and needs more secure mounting.

Here is a (poor) photo of the pouch, showing the cant and also a short clip I did cold with it.

I need to look at this pouch more and possibly shift it slightly forward on the belt, more IPSC Open pistol style.

The rifle in question started life as a Bushmaster M4A3 at around 1998-99. I have since changed the upper receiver to a BM 20" heavy barreled upper, the barrel has been machined lighter. It is my main competition rifle.

The lower probably has c. 16-17K though it and the trigger pin holes are worn out and had to get longer, captive pins for it. The current upper has c. 7-8K though it and is still shooting very well.
