View Full Version : Which reflex suppressor? OPS, AAC, SF, or ___??

So tax time is fast arriving and the warden has graciously allowed me to purchase one suppressor.

I've got a a 12.5" SBR in the works and I'm pretty much sold on the idea of a "reflex" suppressor as they seem to have less gas blowback & better suppression.

The only ones I'm aware of are the following:

AAC SPR/M4

Ops Inc Model 15
http://www.opsinc.us/product.php@prodId=15thcqbmbs.html

And Surefire's M4FA

I'm pretty much up in the air at this point and they all seem pretty comparable with regards to OAL & weight.

Does anyone have any opinions or input on these models, or others?

Guess I will give some input. What exact are you looking for out of the silencer? Light weight, greatest sound reduction, quick detach? I have the Ops 15th and like it a lot but I am sure that it is not going to be as quiet as the AAC SPR/M4. Now the Ops 16th would be better sound reduction (on the same level as the AAC). Obviously the Ops models are not what you call quick detach but to me they go on and off quick enough. If you decide on the Ops can and you are looking for light weight get the model 14th. It is slightly shorter and to me has the same sound reduction as the 15th. Here is a picture of my Ops cans (L to R, 14th, 15th, 16th and 12th).

Weight & length would be my priorities, as I'm not expecting any real stellar reduction in sound from any SBR.

As for OPS's other models, they don't seem to have many listed on their websites. It's hard to learn about their line of products.

For info on the Ops models I would contact Steve at ADCO Firearms (www.adcofirearms.com). He probably sells more Ops cans to civilians that one else. I bought all mine from him and have been extremely happy.

MisterWilson,

Check the length of the attachments as 12.5" barrels may run some issues depending on your FSB, rail, etc. I have several extra Reflex Surefire mounts and they are LONG...

I am happy with my Surefire, but the OPS 16th model or M4/SPR are great suppressors as well.

Good luck hunting...

Which SF can do you have, and how far back on the barrel does it go?

MisterWilson,

I will measure later today and get back to you.

MisterWilson,

I measured my spare Surefire brake and it looks to be about 2 3/4 inches of free space should work out...

Hope that helps,

Wally
