Hey,

Guys I bought 5k of primers and left them in my shop. When I blew up my 1911 I quit reloading for a while. Anyway, should I use these primers? I hate to waste them. These are for plinking rounds so I don't care about a dead primer. Any other potential problems?

No. Load them and watch that scale this time.

LOL. Yeah, I did a tap rack and bang on a squib like a moron.

Also watch your powder level and stuff. Just pay attention when you load... Get rid of all distractions. I have never loaded a squib and don't ever intend to in the future.

I've been using primers that are over 10 years old, haven't had a misfire yet. Use 'em and forget it.

As long as they were kept fairly dry I don't see an issue.

Use them.

If you're loading squib rounds, I'd give them to someone else! :D

I'll send you some squibs Markm!

As most said, no problem with the primers. Sorry to hear about the pistol though.

I'll take anything. I'll move heaven and earth to salvage a single piece of brass. I'm a scrounging fool.

On the OP's note, I just opened another 1K of Federal Primers from ~1982 or so. So old they are in the old red and yellow sleeves, in plastic trays with the primers sitting on the side. :D

This is the 3rd 1K from the 5K case I've opened. so far all the other ones went bang.....Aside from 5 that I crushed...
