DISCLAIMER: I have NO idea if this is accurate. I just received it in my email. I'm posting it here to see if anyone can or has verified or disproved it.

Doctors vs Gunowners

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is

700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians

per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of

Health and Human Services.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.

is 80,000,000.

(Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths

per year, all age groups, is

1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths

per gun owner is

.000188.

Statistics courtesy of FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends

to this

alarming threat.

We must ban doctors

before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large,

I withheld the statistics on

lawyers

for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical help

cdc tracks deaths from medical misadventures. IIRC, that number sounds about right in the ballpark, but i'll have to double check that.

So, maybe you should go to the gunstore when you get sick!
Buying something might make you feel better!

Different versions of the " doc's can be more dangerous than guns" stat's have been around at least since the early 1990's. Back then , the AMA , the Center for Disease Control , and some other organizations were pushing guns as a public health problem -- an epidemic of death & destruction , yadda , yadda , blah ,blah.

Some doc's were handing out Brady Bunch propaganda and "counseling" patients about the evils & dangers of firearms.
One tactic was to lump needle drug use , unprotected anal sex , and gun ownership together as serious health hazards.

The NRA and SAF launched a counter campaign that included actively seeking test cases for legal action. Over time the most serious problems faded , but some medical associations remained very anti-2nd Amendment.

A German friend of mine just randomly forwarded that same thing to me a few days ago. From his travels here, he is fascinated by 2nd Amendment freedoms, widespread hunting, expansive public land, etc. He keeps entering the green-card lottery (an engineer by profession).

I think he is a closet American.

I was picking up some Pmags at a local shop on Saturday, when I noticed my Doctor there asking about an AR. He was looking at a DPMS, wondering if it was ok for his use, as an occasional plinker. I've since put together a "care package" of info. to drop off for him. He hasn't killed me yet, so hopefully the stats are in my favor. :D

The 2 biggest culprits are the AMA (American Medical Association) and the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). Reason I haven't renewed memberships for years.
