John finished this upper for me in the late summer, and I used it to shoot Tactical Response's Fighting Rifle class later in the year. Recently, I have been using it to shoot "non-serious" 3Gun/multigun matches. Reliability has been excellent.

Eventually I'll learn to stop clicking your threads. Jealousy is an ugly thing.

OT: Where do you shoot in Ft. Collins? The Pawnee Grasslands isn't horrible, but it gets a bit harry out there sometimes with all the idiots slinging lead over the horizon. Any tips?

Hi Nick,

Pawnee is OK, but there is a definite need to maintain a high level of situational awareness, and sometimes asserting control of a situation is required. If you avoid the "usual spots", it's not that bad. But public land like that is the only place to shoot further than a few hundred yards.

I also shoot at Weld County Fish & Wildlife, just 10 minutes East of Ault.

Then we shoot multi-gun matches at Pueblo, Clear Creek, Weld, and Camp Guernsey, and we shoot rifles in the terrain at the NRAWC in Raton NM.

We'd like to see more of the Magpul guys at our events.. we did see Drake's rifle at CG last month.

Zak,

Thanks for the tip. I'd love to go shoot with you guys sometime, so if you've got anything scheduled please let me know. I'm going to try to make it down to Pat Rogers' class in May if there is still space (and I have time).

Drake just had Oliver at Iron Mountain Guns spray his rifle OD green (I think). I haven't seen it yet, but it'll be one of our display guns at SHOT this year. Should be interesting...

Pat Roger's class is in May.....If you are interested you may want to get your registration in now as there are only a couple slots left.

Sweet looking rig there....looks like a keeper....how do you like the Halo? Did you do much research before deciding on that? I am just now starting to toy with the idea of getting a can.

The can is actually an M4-96D that Gemtech converted to the HALO attachment. I had a terrible time with the M4-96D connector, and Gemtech, for about $200, converted it to the HALO. I am pretty happy with it. It is slightly louder but lighter than the old-style M4-2000's. In the future, I would prefer to get similar suppression but a lot less weight and OAL increase. Maybe a 2" diameter titanium reflex can or something.

Zak,

Saw your sling article in "Tactical Guns & Gear" magazine today at the local Barnes and Nobles....sorry, didn't have the time to rea it, but congrats on the publication. I believe I noticed some of your and USMC03's weapons pictured if I'm not mistaken.
