I have just purchased a Les Baer Custom "police Special" custom 16"AR.223. The question I have is what is the name of the door that is located where the bullet casing is ejected I closed it when I put it in storage and now that I've taken it out I don't know how to open it. Also is the a blue print that has all of the part names. This is my first weapon like this I'm used to FAL's and my AK74.

The door you are talking about is the dust cover.

If you pull back on the charging handle, the movement of the bolt will cause the dust cover to spring open.

Wrenchmonkey,

It is called the ejection port cover. All you need to do is pull the charging handle back and the door will pop open.

You may also want to read the thread here about Les Baer. ;) I also encourage you to seek some training and ask sensible questions here as there is a lot of knowledge to be found.

I knew asking here would be a good thing. I'm a machine builder by trade and any time I work on somthing I'm not familiar with I like to get as much information as I can so it makes the job less difficult. The rifle list's at 1690.00 and one of the guy's in my police reserve unit lost his day job and needed some cash so I took it off his hands for allmost half of the list price.

Thank you,

In what forum can the Les Baer thread be found?

I have a machine shop "ie" 8 HASS CNC's vert/horz machining centers 2 boring mills id/od grinder 5 lathes, I have a locktight rep that lives next door to me so I can get any type of adhesive/removel aget made by them. Can the error on this rifle be fixed? I have in the past made many mod's on gov/civi firearms (all leagle) so I feel I'm up for the challange.

Again thank you,
