I ordered a new Colt 6920 3 months ago for a decent price, given the political circumstances we currently face. The Colt was due in today, but it was postponed again (3rd time now). Kneseks said it will be another 3 weeks. Meanwhile, I got to handle/shoot an LMT and fell in love with it. I sold my Rock River today and went to a local place and picked up an LMT CGB (non-piston) to hold me over till the new Colt arrives. I don't want to cause any arguments with the guys that own Rock Rivers, but I personallt thought the LMT was a better weapon. I thought there was a noticible difference in quality. I have never had any problems with my Rock Rivers, but I got a taste of that so called Colt and LMT "Kool Aid". So I will be stuck to sweat out the next 4 socialism years with Colt, LMT, and Arsenal on the AK side. This is my first LMT and I hope I did not make a mistake by selling one of my trusty Rock Rivers. Anyone have any experience with the LMT CQB Defender? Reviews or opinions welcome. Thanks

You did well. IMO LMT is a far better rifle for the money. Im sure most here will agree.

congrats.. LMT is the Colt of ARs. how'd you manage to just pick one up? i haven't seen an LMT sitting on a gun rack with a price tag on it in 4 months.

I just got lucky. Clelands in Swanton, OH had 3 LMTs and 1 Colt 6920 that had just arrived. They are way overpriced. I will never deal with those price gougers again! They won't cut any breaks and they didn't have a great deal of knowledge with the BRs. They wanted 1800. for the Colt and 1500 for my LMT.
I am going to post some picks as soon as time permits.

1500 for an LMT isn't all that bad considering the demand.

No kidding. If you're talking about the MRP CQB, a lot of the places that will even take orders for out-of-stock items won't talk to you about any price less than MSRP, which is $1,776 for that rifle. Several of them are up on GunBroker in the $2,000-$2,200 range.

Given that the Colt is a bare-bones M4 with standard collapsing stock, standard grip and handguards, and only a 10rd magazine included... I'd think that the LMT with the SOPMOD stock, Ergo grip, 30rd mag, and MRP fore-end for $300 less is definitely the better buy.

1500? hell yes that's a not-bad deal, especially right now.

I would not be surprised if the guy who sold the MRP for 1500 might be out of a job tomorrow.;) List is 1776 and Ranier had a couple at hat price and they sold in minutes. As someone else said it appears if you can find a complete MRP on GB the money is falling between $2000-2200 and there have been very few MRP's for sale. There are more LWRC for sale than MRP's right now.

I bought an LMT Defender 2000 just before the election and couldn't be happier with it. Paid $1250.00 for it and have almost 2000 rnds through it with only one FTF that I blame on a bad reload.

LMT Defender is a great rifle. Once I sighted in the irons and my Aimpoint M2 on it, I was hitting jack rabbits very easily. It is very accurate even with my non-FF Troy DI rail. I shot 45gr Remington JHP, 55gr Remington FMJ and the 55gr Lake City XM193. No issues whatsoever.
