View Full Version : G19 upper on G23 frame?

I have a 2nd gen Glock 19, and a 3rd gen Glock 23.

As far as the frame goes, I know the ejector is different between the two. Visually, the locking blocks don't look quite the same, but I am able to swap the uppers back and forth between the two and they seem to lock up. (Haven't shot them though).

Is it ok to put the G19 upper on the G23 frame? Will it run reliably?

(the reason is to take advantage of the rail on the 3rd gen frame to mount my X300 but still run 9mm)

Thanks!

I've seen this exact thing done before and it worked for the owner. Now if it was correct or "proper" I do not know.

Check the trigger housing, the ejector may be a different angle on the .40 I used to have a 23 with a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel and it always ran with that set up.

It should work, however if you're going to use it for self defense I would buy a 9mm ejector to be on the safe side.

Also, DO NOT USE the G23 upper on the gen 2 G19 frame.

Thanks, I am going to order a 9mm trigger housing for it.

Thanks for the warning on the G23 upper, I was wondering about that. Is it because of the gen 2 vs gen 3 frames? Or some other reason? From looking at parts listings, it seemed the only difference between a G19 and G23 lower is the trigger housing?

The Gen 2 and some early Gen 3 G19 frames don't have a locking block pin.

That's correct. Also, I think later Gen 3 .40 frame rails were beefed up to address some of the issues with frame rails shearing off on the .40's.

Ah... I get it now.
