I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to remove the extractor (bolt face need resurfacing). According to the Army TM March 1978, all that is necessary is to depress the extractor spring with a pointed instrument and, use a thin wire inserted into a hole that should disengage the extractor. I'm able to depress the extractor plunger and spring and I have inserted a thin stiff wire (paper clip) into the hole but nothing seems to work. There must be a sequence of steps that I'm not doing correctly to get the extractor out. Has anyone run into this situation before? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
