I recently purchased a KAC carbine rear QD swivel mount (KAC Part#24103). This mount replaces the receiver plate and castle nut on a carbine receiver extension and provides for ambidextrous QD swivel mounting points. The replacement nut is thinner in width than a standard castle nut to compensate for the thicker end plate. This allows a carbine stock to fully collapse unlike similar products from other manufacturers. The only issue with the KAC nut is that there is surprisingly no accommodation made to properly stake the nut. This is a simple fix with a dremel. I tried a round jewelers file but the nut is made from some pretty hard steel.

Here is a very poor picture of the end product. (I need a new camera badly...)

Before grinding the indents on the nut I first installed the nut and end plate then marked where I wanted to stake. I staked in two locations 180* apart. I did stake a little too close to the edge of the end plate but I think is will hold up ok. Remember that this end plate is aluminum and the material will displace easily when staking. I will recommend to KAC that they add the reliefs to the nut to allow for proper stakeing.
