While cruising SAW's parts catalog, I came across three different RE's. One is extruded and two are forged (one has a NSN number).
SA61574E BUTTSTOCK, RECEIVER EXTENSION - RIFLE (BUFFER TUBE), EXTRUDED $35.00
8448581 BUTTSTOCK, RECEIVER EXTENSION - RIFLE (BUFFER TUBE), FORGED 7075-T6, (U.S. NSN 5340-00-992-7297) $54.00
SP61574 BUTTSTOCK, RECEIVER EXTENSION - RIFLE (BUFFER TUBE), FORGED 7075-T6, COLT GREY $75.00
My question is: Besides the obvious (extruded v. forged), what's the difference? I know the forged, in theory, would be stronger, but would it be worth the extra money? Is there any difference between the "Colt Grey" and the NSN one, besides price?
