Well I just got a new Armalite M15 for $1050 and after looking at the M4 comparison chart, it seems to be a pretty good weapon since it's further left than other major brands like RRA, Bushmaster and Stag.

My question is, what can I do to an Armalite to make it even closer to the left side of the chart?

Thanks for the help.

Well if you're looking to solely move the weapon towards Colt or LMT, find what yours lacks and replace it with one of the items similar to what Colt or LMT use. I can't think off the top of my head, but things like bolt, carrier, and barrel come to mind. I would say shoot it and change what you deem necessary and what you do not like. But if you just want to add more X's to your Armalite and put them closer to the 'left side' companies, just change out what you're lacking as far as mil-spec items.

What model did you purchase?

What model did you purchase?

It's the 15A4C.

Man I'm dissapointed. It seems like hardly anyone has any experience with these rifles...

A friend of mine picked up one last year and it has worked out well for him. He has put about 1500 rounds through it so far. Make sure the bolt carrier key and castle nut are properly staked. I wouldn’t worry about replacing a bunch of stuff until you take it out and shoot it.

FWIW- I have an Armalite M15 lower receiver that I bought just over 2 years ago for 75.00 and it has always worked fine. Can't say anything about the rest of the Armalite. Just find the weak points and fix them.

Neither the castle nut nor the carrier keys have been staked properly. That's two easy fixes right there. Now to decide whether it's worth it to replace the bolt with an LMT one or not...

Overall this rifle has a superb fit and finish. One of the best I've seen since I first got into AR's years ago. I guess that's why I'm so inclined to get it as close to mil-spec as possible.

If you can find an LMT bolt at a reasonable price it can’t hurt. Otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it.
