View Full Version : Surefire Suppressor FH question

I know, search. I have tried but can't find a specific question regarding the Surefire muzzle brakes. Will both of the pictured styles still be able to accept a Surefire suppressor if they are mounted on a 14.5" barrel along with a 13.2" LaRue rail. This will be pinned in place and I still want the option of adding a suppressor in the future. Is there enough clearance with the LaRue rail? Any other suggestions other than the Surefire's. If it was going to be the last FH/MB you put on, what would you choose, keeping in mind the futre suppressor?

Should clear, Email larue, they use them extensively and Mark can tell you. Go with the shorter of the two...once it's pinned in place you'll be good to go.

I run the MB556k on 2 guns currently (10.5 and 14.5), use them with aFA556k and LOVE them. They do a great job of stabilizing muzzle flip...while loud on the SBR, who cares.

I recently purhased a CDM4LE and had Grant instal the FH (hider)554 in it. More of a traditional BirdCage style, but still suppressor capable.

I would do a little research to find a reputible shop that can/will pin the surefire brakes. I know that adco will not do any pinning on surefire MB/ FH. you might look before you buy.

It's not that hard. If using a milling machine drilling the Surefire brake/FH is pretty easy. The trick is to mill a small flat spot on the bottom of the brake/FH (at 6 o'clock on it) and then drill that flat spot. Then pin and weld. I've done two so far. ADCO might not because then Surefire won't warrant any suppressor damage etc if you have a baffle strike. Before perm. attaching one should be damn sure that their barrel threads are concentric to the bore of the barrel.

To make 16" you have to use the one designed for an M203. The standard one is too short.

I think only the MB556 will work as the other adaptor comes back to far and would be under the rail (maybe).

Just as an FYI to you, pinning the SF adaptor voids the warranty if you have a problem with the can (like a baffle strike).

This is correct.

On their website it says they charge $100 for Surefires. It's normally $30, but because the Surefires are more difficult they charge extra, although I haven't actually spoken with yet. So, maybe their website is wrong? IDK?
