Any of you gents attend or compete in the CT SWAT Challenge? I believe due to the high turn out and teams coming from all over, the name is being changed to something more regional sounding. Web site is:

http://www.ctswatchallenge.com/

The guys I worked with took 15th out of 34 teams, and 4th at the all important PT Challenge.

For a first attempt, I am happy with the results. There’s no reason at all they can’t break top 10 next year with some tweaks to their training, and additional bang bang time on their part.

No major issues or screw ups, but plenty of nerves induced small stuff and high Murphy factor stuff which accumulated rapidly, as it always does! Here are some vids from last years match. I hope some members here can make next year!

Part one, the PT Challenge:

Part two, shooting stages:

Part three, guns and gadgets!

PS, didn't see the option for embedding youtube vids, so I assume URLs are the only option?

Follow up: This is sort of a highlight vid from 2008 training. They trained 12 weeks for the CT SWAT Challenge, the third largest such competition in the country I am told. I didn't produce this particular vid. One of the guys on the team used footage I had taken to make this vid. See:

2009 training gets underway soon and I plan to take it to the next level, hit the ground running this year, and generally step up the training. Like most guys on RRT/SWAT teams, these guys have full time jobs, families, etc, and this is done on their own time, so it takes a lot of dedication for them to do this type of training for 12-14 weeks leading up such a comp. Of course it ultimately leads to improving their abilities for the job, so it's time well spent. ;)

Enjoy!

Ok, this sucks. I love PT challenges, and this one is great.

I wish I could go and just do the PT. Everything but the body carry is solo, which works for me as a civilian.
I may half to borrow this format and make my own course following this.
Good luck!

Thanx! It's billed as the toughest PT stage of any SWAT comps. 7 miles long, something like 22-26 stations. I expect them to do well.

And growing quickly BTW.

Follow up: My guys took 7th out of 37 teams this year (vs 14th out of 34 last year), so all major goals were covered that we set out to cover. Will write up additional comments when I get home and have some great vids to follow.

This event gets better each year. Had a bunch of buddies from Boston PD come down just to watch and see the vendors, etc, so it's starting to attract non competitors just to watch. For us/me it was mission accomplished:

Goal for this year, break the top 10:

Done. 7th out of 37 teams (14th out of 33 teams last year)

Be #1 team from MA:

Done. They beat the closest team (the MSP who took 11th which is very respectable for a first try) by 4 places. MSP did great in the PT, taking 3d, which is great job done there.

Crack top 5 of at least one stage again:

4th in the sniper challenge

Goals not achieved:

The only set back was they were not able to repeat their 4th place finish in the PT Challenge portion of it, but still placed a very respectable 13th. We had a beat up crew this year with a lot of injuries, other teams really brought up their game this year so I can live with 13th.

So, proof of concept for the training....

Folks, here's my vid from the PT portion of the CT SWAT Challenge:

Was a long day, but all that training we did paid off, though we were down two guys, and others in the team had injuries.
