This class immediately follows the previously scheduled TriCon's Adv Combative Pistol. May be taken after, or as a stand alone course. See below!


Please note the attached new, Edged Weapon class being premiered by Trident Concepts, a training cadre drawn from Naval Special Warfare; SEAL’s. This new class will follow the ACP class scheduled for April 21-23, 2009.


The attached flyer describes the course, and please note the discounted, premier tuition is $50. (normally $125)


The Adv Combative Pistol class (see attached ACP announcement) is still scheduled April 21-23, 2009. All registrations are handled by TriCon, whose contact info is in the announcement. This is some of the best, most comprehensive training available from one of the nation’s most respected training cadres.

The cost per student is $50 and registrations are due with full payment no later than thirty (30) days prior to course date. This course is restricted to active/retired law enforcement officers and military personnel only.

General course description:

The Combative Edged Weapons (CEW) is a 1-day course that will introduce the combative fundamentals for the tactical employment of an edged weapon during lethal confrontations. Topics covered include; introduction to the folding knife, safety & training consideration, general legal considerations, choosing a folding knife, carrying, drawing & deploying a folding knife, various grips, basic targeting, introduction to feeder/receiver mindset and TRICON basic 4 count template. Practical evolutions will include the TRICON basic 4 count template from deployed, draw and carry mode. Training partner evolutions will include TRICON basic 4 count template versus static and active role players. The combination of static and active exercises will provide the opportunity to develop the TTP necessary to address the challenges of close quarter lethal confrontations. The final training exercise will test their skills as they conduct scenarios versus an active opponent.

Course length: one days (10+hours)
Course description:

Terminal objectives:
Upon completion of the Combative Edged Weapons (CEW) course the student will demonstrate a successful deployment and application of the TRICON basic 4 count template using an inert folding knife trainer in a simulated close quarter lethal confrontation against an active role player to the instructor’s satisfaction.
Enabling objectives:
Upon completion of this course of instruction, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the course material through verbal discussion and/or practical exercises of the following tactics, techniques and procedures:
 Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the folding knife.
 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safety and training considerations.
 Presentation of general legal considerations.
 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of feeder/receiver mindset.
 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding for choosing a folding knife.
 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding for the various methods of carrying a folding knife.
 Demonstrate practical application for carrying, drawing and deploying the folding knife.
 Demonstrate practical application of the various grips for a folding knife.
 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding for basic targeting of vital organs of the human anatomy.

Training schedule:
Training day one:
Morning: Classroom…class introduction & outline, safety & protocol brief, general legal consideration, introduction to folding knife, choosing a folding knife and introduction to feeder/receiver mindset Training area…carrying, drawing and deploying a folding knife, various grips and basic targeting
Lunch
Afternoon: Training area…TRICON basic 4 count template introduction and practical, practical exam Classroom…debrief, lessons learned and certificates The training schedule is subject to change without notice depending on available training facilities, weather conditions and overall class skill level.
