The 2009 Steel City Carbine Championship shooting match will be held on Saturday May 30th and Sunday, May 31st at Steel City Sports Shooting Range in Birmingham, AL. It is a one day format, you choose the day you want to shoot.

This is a fast paced match consisting of 7 scenario based stages. Competitors will need a semi-automatic carbine with sling 3a 20 or 30 round magazines and the means to carry the magazines. Round count will be between 150 and 200 rounds. Shots range from up close out to about 300yds on 10" steel flash targets.

We hold this match on months with a 5th Saturday which comes out to about one per quarter. The Spring match each year is our "Championship" match. It has more elaborate stages, plaque trophies for order of finish and prize give aways from our sponsors.

Pre-registration is necessary, you can find registration information and more info on the match and shooting categories on the Steel City website. There is a link to the match on the home page. As of March 1, Saturday is about half full (80 shooters per day max) and Sunday is pretty wide open.

The entry fee is $60 which includes a t-shirt. It is very likely that you'll win mdse from the prize table that will far exceed the cost of your entry fee.

This event is a great match. I shot it for the first time last falll and had an absolute blast. The stages were great and the shooting challenges nicely varied.
