Oh baby , my heart just skipped a beat !!!!
Very nice !!!
USMC03 - you have WAY too many guns. I'm jealous. They're all beautiful, too!
How long was the wait on that thing? Zak-Smith told me...must have been last September, that you had one on order.
I almost bought one, but some financial things went haywire and I have a Surgeon action on the way now. Kinda wishing I had saved some more for the AI.
WAY too many guns.
That comment my friend, is what is known as an oxymoron. There is no such animal as too many guns, too much money, etc :p :D
RyanB,
I ordered the gun last May or June, it got here in late Jan.....but it was worth the wait.
I'm not a bolt gun guy, but even I know beauty when I see it!
Some updated (a little better quality) pics:

How dare you steal my rifle....I demand you ship it to me for inspection.
Wow! My absolute favorite bolt-gun. I wish it wasn't so damn expensive. I'm jealous of you USMC03 :D Do they shoot as good as there reputation?
What kind of scope rings are those?

Those pics don't look "Artic Warfare" terrain to me... :D
Are the days of below zero warfare over? :p
Beautiful stick. One of the nicest (form and function) I have ever seen...

They shoot as well as everyone says they do. I have a friend that has shot several different loads from 150's up to 180's in his AIAW, and can't find anything that the gun doesn't like.
The Rings / Base is a 1 piece deal directly from Accuracy International.
Great choice USMC03. They're worth every $$
I just wish I could have held onto mine :(

But at least I know where it is and that it's being well cared forby it's new owner.
I get just excellent accuracy with "just about" every 308 load I have tried. The two notable exceptions were the 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, and M118LR. The former is a mystery, and I didn't put any effort into figuring it out (just had some extra bullets laying around, and the 125's shoot fine), and the latter is consistent with reports I have heard from others.
My normal load is a 155gr Scenar at 2840fps (24" AWP barrel with 5000 rounds through). I have played extensively with the 175 SMK and 168 Berger, but saw no advantage to using those bullets. For game, I have a box of GameKings or some other SP bullet which shoot to the same POI out to say 400 yards (way longer than I can see any of the places I hunt deer anyway -- if I need to kill anything further than that, I'll just take the 338). Australian F4 surplus usually shoots MOA and is OK to 400-500 yards on practical targets.
I haven shot the 210 Berger VLDs and they were accurate, but too slow.

 wow....very nice, indeed.

Haven't you been listening to Algore? Besides providing us with a venue to share ideas and information, he has also discovered global warming.

That is a sweet set-up. How much it set you back?
wes1,
Don't have any group pics, sorry.
Josey,
The AI was just over $5,000 with all the accessories (with LEO discount) and the USO was close to $3,000.

A question for anyone that happens to know: Are the folding stocks worth the extra dough?
I am considering their .338
For a 338 or for running a suppressor, yes. Otherwise I can take or leave them.

Are there any good optics that would be suitable for artic use? E.g. longer eye relief to reduce the chances of the optic fogging up?

I'm not sure. I live on the southern end of the front range, it gets cold here in the winter, but nothing that you would consider "artic" :D

I continue to be surprised at the mostly mid climate here. I'm originally from western NY state. The winters are harsh, the summers can be quite hot and humid. Guns rust. I did time in Norway while in the Corps too. It's a real eye opener when you live out in the real cold.
USMCO3,
Can you tell me why you ditched the U.S. Optics and went with the S&B? I'm trying to make up my mind which one to go with for my Mk11 Clone, and I have about decided on your exact scope, but a few have strongly urged me to look into the USO scopes further. Some feedback would be greatly apprecaited.

I wrote this on another forum.
I had a US Optics SN3 3-17x44 on this gun with Horus H25 reticle, but found that the reticle was a little too thick for smaller targets (ie. weekly qual targets, etc).
For LEO sniper applications, we love shooting tiny, little dots, during classes, quals, etc. I found the Horus H25 to be more of a liability than an assett for this kind of shooting.
I have no complaints about the USO, it was definately good glass. For whatever reason I like the S&B more, haven't been able to put my finger on it yet, but for some reason I prefer the S&B over the USO.
Hope this helps.

Jeff,
Needs more suppressor!;)
Derek,
With a can on the AIAW the gun could be in two different zip codes at the same time. Zak had a Jet can on his AIAWP (24" barrel ..... the AIAW has a 26" barrel) and it make for a very long overall package.
If I were to suppress a bolt gun, I think I would suppress my Remington LTR (20" barrel) as it would keep the overall length more manageable.

Jeff

Jeff,
Have you used the TIS sling and armband cuff setup yet? Do you like it?
I've only used the arm band a couple times. Most of the time I wrap my support arm through the sling like we use to on the USMC known distance course.
I don't have enough time using the armband to form a solid opinion.
