View Full Version : New .22 cal Upper Assembly
Yesterday I purchased a complete .22cal upper, new in generic cardboard box. It has no markings or name on the flat top/A4 housing and the housing is made of polymer. It has a full sized 16" barrel with a standard FSB. It has the standard round carbine style handguard but does not have a dust cover. It came complete with BCG ready to shoot. One thing I noticed was there is no gas tube for operation. I have no idea who made it or where I can get a manual for it. Can someone give me direction here??? Any help would be appreciated.

Pics would help with identification, though someone else may be familiar with a polymer-uppered 22lr conversion. Are there any barrel markings?
A dedicated 22 lr upper doesn't need a gas tube, because it is a blow back - rather than direct gas impingement - system.
I'm sure we will all be very interested in how this unit works out for you. May I ask what you paid and where you got it?

As soon as the #1 son brings my camera back I can get pictures up. I picked it up from a little gunshop in south central Texas I have bought from before. I paid $275 for it complete with three 27 round mags. I bought it after shooting the owners AR with the same upper mounted on his. It shot very well with no jams and was accurate. He mounted a EOTech he had laying around on his and we were shooting 3 shots in a group you could cover with a dime at 25 yards. I shot all 27 rounds in a bull the size of a silver dollar at 50 yards.
Here are the pictures....hopefully this will help:

Looks like a BM Carbon 15 to me....

If those are Black Dog Machine mags they cost around $100 for 3 of them. And 22LR conversions (not uppers with barrels, just conversions) are around $200.
If it shoots that good and functions reliably, I'd say you did good.
Well it looks like I figured it out. The unit is made by Velocity Firearms. They make three different models of dedicated uppers for the 22lr. Judging by their website pricing I DID get a good deal.
From the website:

Velocity Firearms model AR22-100. Complete upper for AR-15 in 22 long rifle. The AR22-100 has a Carbon Fiber Upper Receiver completely interchangeable with a standard flat top upper receiver. These are dedicated .22 long rifle caliber with a chrome moly, 1-16” twist, 16” long barrel , and feature a Military type .22 long rifle bolt assembly (very accurate). Include with this upper is a 27rnd BLACK DOG MAG!!! For those in states that will not except high capacity mags I do have 10rnd black dog mags. These uppers will fit any mil-spec lower receiver.
Please give us a report on it after you've gotten a 1000 rounds or so through it. I had looked at these before, but I think the pricing is too good to be true.

I have never heard of these, but they have 3 models - 2 with carbon fiber receivers and one with an aluminum receiver, according to the wegb site. The aluminum model is $470, and much closer to the price of Spike's or TacSol.
