Had a chance to try a rented SA XDM 9 tonight. It was outstanding. The trigger is IMHO somewhat better than that of my S&W M&P's, in that it seems to have shorter travel, shorter reset, and is crisper and lighter. The XDM also seems well balanced and in my hands, it seemed to exhibit less muzzle flip than the M&P. I also really liked the fully ambidextrous magazine release, which works very smoothly and reliably from either side of the pistol.
Probably not enough of a difference to cause me to swap out my M&P's. But I do think the XDM is an outstanding new pistol for Springfield.
