I seem to recall a Mythbusters episode whit making fire from an ice lens. It worked.

I live in an ice-free zone.

That being said, a cousin to the fire from ice, I attempted to start a fire from parts from a broken projection-screen TV. The lens from the projector started a grass fire from a partly cloudy sky almost instantaneously.

+1 to lens fires.

Guess it is pretty easy to forget about all of the equipment out there with lenses in it, these days.
