If anyone has thier Noveske SS barrel fluted, tell me how you like it? I have one in 6.8. Think I'll take it on the next deer hunt. Did you notice the weight loss?

Don't have an answer, but I am interested in the same thing as you but with their steel barrels.

I was briefly researching fluting for my Recon barrel. It seems that if you want Noveske to do it, you need to do it before the rifle is ordered - when I called they said they wouldn't do it on a completed rifle. I looked into ADCO, but the fine print on their website says that they won't do any work on Noveske uppers that requires disassembly. I'd like to shave some weight off the Recon, which is quite accurate but definitely on the heavy side. Anyone have suggestions?

Yay Loctite.

can you confirm or is that simply speculation?.

Wes is correct. This is direct from the ADCO website...

"We do NOT disassemble uppers assembled by Noveske. He uses loctite on everything, and you cant pay us enough to take them apart."

ADCO link (http://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/shop_.cfm?code=51)

It's disappointing since Noveske doesn't offer this service anymore on their own uppers, and one of the more reputable shops out there won't touch Noveske uppers...

fair enough.

I gotta be honest though, I just took my FH off of my 10.5 N4 and there wasn't any loctite?. should I be concerned?.......I kid.

which leaves the barrel nut.

outside of the barrel nut being literaly fused to the upper it seems like it should be something a little carefully placed heat would take care of.

For some reason, I think I remember reading some type of interview with Noveske and he said that he doesn't loctite the flash hider.

There's no need for loctite on a muzzle device unless it's used in conjunction with a suppressor.

If it loosens up and falls off..oh well.

Bringing up an old thread but I just received my Noveske fluted 14.5" Afghan with pinned Battlecomp 1.5. The Noveske fluting is sweet!!

Ok wait. I have a dumb question. Why won't Adco work on Noveske uppers? Does the Loctite ruin the threads or something I am missing?

No, it won't ruin the threads, but I am sure you can imagine how much more difficult disassembly would be...right?

Oh I'm sure it would more of a challenge but didn't think it would stop them from doing it all together. Those Adco dudes have skills.

A Noveske Afghan barrel that is fluted by Noveske with 7 flutes to max depth will loose 4.56oz. I know this because I have one.

I see no mention of them not doing Noveske uppers. Perhaps it has changed since the OP?
