Hi everyone,

I am thinking about getting my glock 17 frame worked on some. I would like to get the finger grooves removed and things like that.

For those of you that have had this done, can you post a pic and a little information about what work you had done and who performed it?

Thanks a lot,
-B:D

Here's a G34 and a G19 that I had done by D.R. Middlebrooks at www.tacticalshooting.com. The beaver-fur stippling isn't exactly "pretty" but it functions better than any other stippling I've tried.

The finger grooves were removed (arguably the best mod), thumb pads along the frame. The grip was also radiused under the trigger guard to allow a higher grip. The half-moon cutouts allow a better grip on the mag. The backstrap was similarly reduced to get rid of the hump (more square than the typical rounded which I think improves the grip memory) and reduce the circumference since I have smaller hands.

Anyone can cut a Glock frame, but if you want it to look professional your choices are limited. I have seen a lot of Glock work posted on this forum. Some of which looked very good. The one that I have personal knowledge of is Bowie Tactical. I have had David work on several Glocks as have Ken Hackathorn and Larry Vickers.
David's work looks like it is factory original from Glock.

I have no pics. I would advise you look at Robar. They're the best IMHO. I think they may also have been the 1st to do this type of work with polymer framed handguns. www.robarguns.com

Anyone can, but that doesn't mean anyone should. If one has never done it before, I'd avoid the heat gun method and stick with a filler compound and grinder.

The thing about a grip reduction/stippling is that it's supposed to improve grip function, not make the grip look pretty. I'd emphasize getting some hands on if you can. Most I've held were only a marginal improvement on the original glock grip. I'm not sure that it was worth the couple hundred bucks.

My gen 2 Glock 19 didn't have fingergrooves but I did have it textured by Sam Hatfield of www.hatfieldsgunsmithing.com

He also textured my gen 3 Glock 17 but left on the fingergrooves. On both guns the triggerguards was relieved too.

Thanks for the replies. I am not doing this for looks, it is for function. I have a G22 with the finger grooves removed and some stippling. The problem is I bought it from a member on TOS and I do not know who performed it or what all was done. All I know is I like it. I guess I could contact who ever does these mods and send them a pic of my G22 and attempt to have it mimicked.

Thanks,
-B

IMHO there's no reason you can't have form and function together. Depends on what your idea of "form" is, of course.

gotm4 those Glocks looks great. I really like the undercut trigger guard. That is something that I would like to eventually get done on mine.
