I know there are probably 100s of books on the AR, but I need a good basic book for disassembly, maintenance and basics. I am going to a guns show tomorrow where they will have many to choose from and hoped to get a list to take with me hoping to find some M4Carbine.net approved books:p Thanks

here is another site with a CD that contains everything you will ever need to know about your AR-15:

Mike Pannone's "M16/M4 Handbook."

Kyle Lamb's "Green Eyes and Black Rifles."

These two books are the distillation of most military and civilian texts down to the essential elements.

GEBR especially will more than pay for itself in avoiding wasted money and in terms of firearms books is among the best written, most thoughful in its layout and easy to use without a whole bunch of jargon to complicate the issue.

If you have to get just one, GEBR would be my recommendation.

Thanks...just got back from the gun show and looked at the myriad of AR books and bought Pmags instead:p But thanks alot I will be purchasing some of y'all's recommendations in the near future.

Gunshow was depressing very little ammo and priced higher than store prices in town...they were selling to the suckers who had not price checked in town. Frustrating:confused:

GEBR is a great book for new shooter and veteran alike. Definitely worth the price.

You can pick it up from between $22 and $27 on Amazon.
