The sights are available for online order at Hilton's website. I just ordered mine.

Anyone know of a good source for a gold bead front sight for the M&P in factory height? I've heard that it would be a great combo with the 10-8 rear sight.

Got my 10-8 sight from Hilton today, it's a good looking sight, much improved over the busy factory Novak. It will have to be this weekend before I can get somebody to install it. I'll post some pictures.

Cool, I'm looking forward to it. I wish Hilton would make a front sight as well because the white paint on mine is cracking and peeling. It's very annoying.

Well, my 10-8 sight is on the way and Dan Burwell said he had an extra M&P front sight with gold bead from some he had made up for a customer. I should be set after SHOT.

I put a 10-8 M&P sight on my M&P9 tonight. It goes well with the .100" Speed Shooters fiber front sight. I'm going to try it out either tomorrow or Friday night. I'll post pics of it tomorrow.

I used construction marker paint (fluorescent orange) on the front sight. I sprayed a dab on the brush of a model airplane paint brush and applied it to the entire front sight. Cover up the white dot and the entire post. You can see that front sight a mile away. It's also a poor man's semi low light sight :).

Thanks for the side by side picture comparison. I have some questions:
Was it hard to slide the factory Novak off?
How hard was it to keep the spring and spring cover from flying off when you drift the Novak off?
How hard was it to depress the spring/spring cap while at the same time sliding the new sight into the dovetail?

Thanks.

It's easy to change out the sights. I use a MGW Glock rear sight tool backwards and I remove the slide cover plate and striker assy so the slide will fit on the tool. It's tricky to keep the plate and spring in the first time but easier after you get the hang of it. After installing the sight by hand with the plate and spring I then knock the sight on further with a plastic hammer about 2/3 on and then use the tool to center it up. If you need a sight installed let me know I'll do it free of charge (you pay return shipping on the slide).

Thanks for the tips and offer. I'll get a friend to help me here locally. I'll post pics after we get it done.

Sounds like my setup.

I have found over the years that the brightest canary-yellow model paint works very well on steel sights. My 1911 is set up with a yellow front sight, and my Heine equipped Glock is set up the same way.

Frankly I have yet to find anything that is as durable or easy to use as that setup. In almost 10 years of daily carry, I only had to touch up the front sight with more model paint once.

I really like my 10-8 sight on my SA 1911. I'll never know how they work on the M&Ps. ;)
