Templar,
Great post. The Marine Corps has taught "Motti" tactics at the Marine Corps Mountain Cold Weather training facility in Bridgeport, CA for several decades. The name "motti" is taken from the Finnish word for a cord of firewood, they sought to break invading columns into small segments, which were then destroyed piecemeal by attacking the logistics columns first and then fighting infantry and tanks when they were out of fuel, food, and no resupply of ammo.
Marines who have trained there develop deep admiration for the Finnish Army and how they fought the Russians.

The Israelis are tough determined fighters, as are the Finns, another nationality that I spent some time with are the Eritreans. They fought for their independence from Ethiopia for over 30 years (early '60s - '90s) with no outside assistance and did it with only the resources they gained from captured Ethiopian weapons, equipment and ammo. Spent some time at their commando camp in the late 90's, tough warriors who are smart, resourceful and eager to learn with a strong work ethic. If their country had more natural resources it would be an economic power house in north east Africa. They always refused "hand outs" considering it an insult, but if it was a "hand up" it was appreciated.
