Can someone direct me to a PDF user manual for the M4 carbine. I have looked and can only find older manuals.

Do you mean the original "TM9-1005-319-10.pdf" manual, or one specific to a commercial manufacturer, or something else? What kind of information do you need?

I have dozens of various manuals, several of which are relevant to the M4.

TM9-1005-319-10.pdf (http://www.thefirearmblog.com/files/ar-15/TM9-1005-319-10.pdf) is what I use for that. It's the M16/M4 Operator's Manual used by the DoD. IIRC, this only shows basic maintenance (suitable for field use), not armorer-level detail.

Though probably considered sacrilege, I also use my copy of the Bushmaster Operating Manual (http://www.bushmaster.com/electronic-documents/operation-manual/opmanual.pdf).
