I ordered an triple shingle from Extreme Gear Labs a while back and just received it the other day. The one I ordered was specific for the AK47 and allows for the use of the whole spectrum of AK mags. As to my surprise it came with removable/adjustable tabs that I was not expecting to be included (it came with all three I was just to lazy to put them all on for the pictures). I searched high and low but this was the only place that offered a shingle like this specific for the AK. Overall a very high quality piece of gear. Im more than pleased.

Shown on an all molle rig from SKD with sjauch custom short straps.

As for the kydex, how does one know if it is or isnt?

It's alive, it's alive!

Thanks for the reply! I was linked to this thread from another site when asking about pouched for my 5.56 Bulgy AK mags.

heheh

now that someone has said my name 3 times :p yes they can be made and in fact for 556 AK mags, you should be able to use a variety of AR triple shingles... not just mine.

that is of course if they are made correctly.

the subject mag pouches are a couple of iterations earlier in design and have since been revised.

There are also harnesses based on this platform as well as singles and doubles, quads and beer-can pouches. Skies the limit really.

I've tried differing AR mag pouches, and the Bulgarian 5.56 mags are longer, wider, and thicker for a no-go fit. The fact the magazine catch lug, and the floorplate edges stick out to catch on any piece of fabric can make it difficult to find good modular pouches.

note I said if the AR pouches are made CORRECTLY

that being said, I highly recommend deciding on a path - you should have dedicated gear to support each platform. Setup in a similar manner between each

dude. you've been very vocal about some stuff here lately, across the boards. i've read just about every post you've made. while you do make some good points, you've also been known to be full of it. this is one of those times.
:stop:
who are you to say that other manufacturers stuff isn't "made correctly"? i've tested just about every shingle out there, with the exception of your stuff and tags. the number one thing that binds when using an ak magazine is if the manufacturer "does what they are supposed to" and uses edging tape around the lips to prevent eventual freying after drawing and replacing the mags a few thousand times.

DONT crap up this thread. if you have a problem with eggroll take it to pm's, You your self said you haven't even tried EGL stuff so why are you even posting here in the first place?

HEH!

Rolfsen, really?

I stand by what I said earlier

in fact I do make my AR pouches a little on the larger side. Is this the right way - it is not for me to decide, but not a single person has complained. There is a wide variety of dimensioning thought between vendors.

Unfortunately with the flood of Chinese made gear, like Fox, Condor and the like, the dimensioning is highly variable, and more often then not, not capable of holding small caliber AK magazines

But on the other hand, you have folks using mag pouches for magazines NOT originally intended, then then they state they cant make it work.

having tried the 556 magazines I have in the shop, they fit snug and DO require the Knobby rock in order to insert them into the pouch.

NOW - on to the next part of my last - DEDICATED Gear for each platform

that covers gear designed specifically for the platform employed. that way there is no CF regarding the fit/utility of magazine pockets.

Now, you have had a history of calling me "out" on posts because you think I am being rude - the fact of the matter is, you have had sandinvag ever since I refused to supply you with free gear.

Joe what make of mag are you using? I only espouse floorplate up insertion - are you talking floor plate down?

because he's putting out bad information. and that information needs to be corrected publicly.

Wow! I didn't mean for this to degrade to such a level.

I'm using Bulgarian 5.56 waffle mags. Longer, and thicker than AR mags, but just about the same angular curve.

Yeah but not markedly more than 545 magazines.
Joe. Sorry about it devolving. In short. I tell people that the quickest way to get subpar kit performance is to employ said kit in a manner for which it was not designed. Some people and makers are comfortable with that. I am not one of them. To expound further. I hear so much in the way that folks would like multi form mag pouches. But how well will they truly work?

I make gear yes but I will be the first to tell you to find what gear works and if I find gear that is GTG I will point people there. Seems kinda odd to throw money out like that but in the end my goal here is to get folks and gear out to happy places- not to act as a shill for another mfg

Some people just don't like the way I go about it. I just started my rant on AR15 last week and several folks came aeay thinking gee maybe I should rethink that or this But ya know it only takes once and folks come away with a more critical eye to their choices then I have succeeded. Good hunting on your quest. Let us know what you come up with
