A buddy sent this to me earlier this morning, and I have to admit I thought it was an April Fool's Day joke until I saw it on the ATK website ...

OK, so I will ask the question for those of us who honestly do not know. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I have a few Eagle products and really like them. Will this change purchasing, warranty work, etc., or nothing at all? I hope this is a good move for them and us, and wish them the best. I am just a little ignorant on who ATK is and what happens to companies that they purchase.

Lets hope this serves to improve quality and customer care (or at least keep it at the same excellent level).

I think Eagle is a leader in the tactical nylon manufacturing work! I would prefer to see it go the Safariland/BAE route versus the Blackhawk/Mikes of Oregon (no disrespect intended).

Hey, could be worse - ie. CAA or Tapco after all :-)

Let's hope they don't "outsource" production overseas. :(

The Eagle LEO line is already produced OCONUS.

Hopefully whatever else happens they will be able to maintain quality and ramp up production!

Blackhawk/Mikes of Oregon (no disrespect intended).

That was Blackwater / Michaels of Oregon which then got bought up by Bushnell (who started outsourcing things to China) and got rid of Blackwater Gear

I dont think I like this. Eagle makes some great gear and is a solid brand. I believe that ATK will ruin this. I feel that all those great dealers that currently sale Eagle products will fall by the wayside as ATK will try and use their other established channels. We will be forgotten. Just my opinion and two cents.

At any rate more the reason to buy eagle gear right now before ATK could possibly ruin it. Doubtful but possible....

I wish the Carvers well, and a long happy life enjoying the fruits of their labor.

I'd prefer to see EI stay the family owned business it has been rather than become part of the ATK conglomerate. I hope the honchos and staff in place remain, and ensure that EI continues to be what it is today.

Me thinks John and Gretchen are VERY smart.

Scott will stay on staff.

Sell at the peak and get out while the getting is good.

Good move and good on em' !

I unsuccessfully interviewed to lead a portion of that new business in Oct/Nov '08. I felt that they were waay too late to compete in the tactical accessories market but did not mention acquiring existing players. I definitely had the engineering background and I definitely know the market for mounts, rails, buttstocks, nylon, kydex, etc. And I know ATK's other holdings (that don't really play a role in the type of gear that any of us would be interested in. At the time of the interview my impression (and they're stated direction) was primarily hardware for pistols, carbines, rifles, shotguns with some interest in other gear. Good on them and good luck with it.
