These don't get much press as they aren't being made any longer. I have to say that I'm glad I got mine when I did. It's never had a FTF/FTE and is reasonably accurate (meaning it shoots better then I do) My only complaints about the thing are it's lack of a manual bolt hold open and the fact that optics don't co-witness with any mount I've found. It goes through various stages of dress. This is an older pic. It's pretty much stripped back to just the optics now. I wish that Robinson would pick back up with this system but I guess there's not much chance of that...oh well.

It's pretty stock except for an AC folder and the Robinson top rail. I modded the side and bottom rails at the house as I couldn't see paying $150 for them.

Try an Aimpoint T1/H1 on there with a stock mount. I bet that'll work.

You know, I've never even thought of one of those:confused: I bet you're right. It looks like it sits low enough. I'll have to look around and see if there are any in stock locally so I can try it and confirm before I dump $500+ on it...of course if it doesn't work, I may have someplace else to put it :D

Thanks

I am very happy with my M96. I got it a couple of months for $1200. It's a very sweet shooting carbine. It was one of my dream guns back in 2003, and will never leave my collection.

It's the final version Robinson made, so it features an ambi bolt hold open and bolt release like the Robinson XCR. You can see it sticking out behind the mag, and in front of the trigger guard

Very cool. I was not aware that they added the bolt hold open. That would make all the difference in the world. Pity there's not a retrofit kit. You got a better deal on yours then I did as far as price goes. I paid close to $1600 back in 05. I like the tan furniture too. I had a choice between black and green and wanted something different. I figured that I had enough black guns (well, not really...) Did the extra barrel come with it or did you pick that up seperately?

Actually the ambi bolt release can be added to your gun. Just take off your magwell and add the new magwell. Takes about 10 seconds.

Robinson is ramping up for a limited run of M96. Give em a ring during the summer and perhaps they will have a spare magwell to add to your gun.

I got the spare barrel from Robinson.

I finally found some old pictures I'd taken of a someone else's rifle, inside & out. If you don't own one and wanted to see how they look broken down, go HERE. (http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q252/mastersqurm/Robinson%20Rifle/)

VERY interesting rifles, but doesn't hold a candle in the weight & ergonomics department to an AR15, but with that having been said, the Stoner 63 that it was based on had very different requirements.
