What is your experience with or knowledge of BVAC ammo? Is it re-manufactured from Lake City components? I picked up a box of 500 rounds of BV-5.56 1N and it all has LC headstamps and it's labeled 55gr FMJ. From their website (http://www.bvac-ammo.com/index.html) it appears that they are tied in to ATK.

BVAC is a ATK Dist. Any of their ammo with a N in the product code is new with the N standing well for new. BVAC is a big chunk of HSM and is owned by the old HSMGeneral manager. I have very cllose dealing with these folks and thaye make a good product. As a matter of fact in AZ we have went through a few 100k of their stuff without a hitch. Their match grade stuff in .308 holds about .50 MOA and the .223 Match holds at about .70MOA.
If anyone wants any stuff from them its going to be a little wait as I haven them cranking out out just under 100k at this moment:D

We have used 40K+ of their .223/5.56 in our training classes and this ammo is good to go. Just wish they could produce more of it..faster.

I have used the 308 match ammo and am very happy with it.
Comparing it to Federal GM match, it had a lower ES when chrono'd.
(12 fps vs. 35fps)

The 223 (recycled brass) runs without any issues in my AR that has been reamed to 556 chamber.

Have another 1k of 223 on order and awaiting delivery at the next show.

until that day,
Mark

During a recent 2 day, 1000yd range weekend: my rifle was holding .7moa with a new shooter behind the trigger.

A buddy's AR10 was running .5 moa out to 800 yds.
His scope ran out of elevation at 1k, I think he still would have been less than 1moa if he had the extra turns available.

Looks interesting. Anyone try their 9 and 40 loads? Seems like they have three grades plus "N" ones? Anyone point to the best grade for a taking a class. I'm looking to get a couple thousand rounds. I don't see their lead times?

They are way behind on orders. About half a million rounds not including the 100k they owe me. The N means new brass. For a class use the reman as it will save you money. You can give them a ring but your in for a wait.

I bought mine from a local dealer, Gordon Miller of HK Specialties. He sold out at Knob Creek.

I used to do business with HSM when Darren was in charge. He lied to me several times and still owes me $106 and some change that he said he'd refund several times and didn't. I also have personally witnessed two incidents with their ammo. One blown up AR and a box of .40 that was tumbling. I was also lied to a few times that ordershad shipped when they in fact had not. This was two to three years ago. But if Darren is invovled I'll stick to waiting 10 months on Black Hills. I also know of two local police agencies that used to order from them and one private training school that won't use them because of similar issues.

It seems like your talking aboyut HSM which is unrelated. Keep it on BVAC.

No. I specifically was speaking about Darren and will not do business with HSM or BVAC if he is involved.

Your post very clearly states you had problems with Darren while at HSM. This is regarding BVAC.

Yes, and it's my understanding that he is the guy running BVAC now.

I also had very poor customer service from him when he ran the show at HSM, ref ammo we bought that was blowing up in our carbines.

I avoid both companies now as my information is that the whole BVAC and HSM split was quite a dirty business deal. I stay away from people who screw people for profit, and ammo that explodes.

There are zero reports of kabooms from BVAC ammo. Also you probably dont know the entire story over the split as there were things on both sides. I have delt with Darren for 100k's of ammo on both sides of the fence for quite awhile and he is a decent guy and yes things have fallen through the cracks but I chalk that up to underlings and the main one who was responsible was at HSM and followed to BVAC but is no longer around.

Just because you have had no problems with either company or Darren does not make my experience invalid. Also, just as tpd pointed out, it would not be unreasonable to assume that Darrens customer service skills did not improve just because it is technically a diiferent company. You shared your views and I shared mine. We don't need to defend our positions.

My experience was speaking to him personally, several times, on the phone and via e-mail, and dealing with his BS run around and dodging my calls after we had an AR blow up with HSM ammo (he was still running things at HSM back then), a failure that was totally ammo related.

Since then I have noted from first hand observation that claims by HSM folks that he actually stole brass and other materials from HSM when he left appear to be true.
I have seen boxes, cardboard cases, bullets, and ammunition from 9mm ammo labeled BVAC that appear to be relabeled HSM materials.

Regardless of the source, some of the BVAC labeled 9mm ammo I saw shot on our range was very dirty, very inaccurate, and we had two case head failures in G17s that fortunately didn't wreck the guns.

I like to deal with honest folks who have good customer service. I also like shooting ammo that doesn't regularly blow up in my gun.

Just my experience.

Yes I can respect what your saying and do, but the bottom line is the association you have is with a different company all together.

The original BVAC boxes looked very close to HSM's. The HSM kaboom dodging came from the owner and flowed downwards and it sucks you went through all of that crap. I just did a count and in AZ we have went through roughly 300k of the BVAC stuff without a problem whatsoever. However unfortunately with anything esp with reman stuff there can be issues.

You are right. I have no experience with the product BVAC puts out. I will point again though that my issue is with Darren and the fact I was overcharged shipping and spoke to him several times in which he promised a refund which I never received. I don't think it matters if it was an HSM order or a BVAC order. Darren now represents BVAC and there is now way his bosses at HSM are the reason I never received my $106 back. Heck I'll even go so far as ordering a case of BVAC ammo to try out if Darren gives me my refund.....

I would contact HSM to get your money back or expalin it to your CC company.
