Malfunction Junction - Stovepipe plus Double Feed?

This is why it's bad to block the ejection port with your hat while shooting from odd positions. It looks to me like I've managed to induce a combination stovepipe and double feed. :eek:

That's the first malfunction I've ever had on this rifle, so I guess I did it right. :D

how the crap does that happen? bolt slides back, ejects case, case gets blocked by hat, bolt rides forward and drives a round up, spent case straightens out as bolt strikes it, bolt bounces back just enough to pick up another round.....?

Fortunately, it looks a lot worse than it was.... clearing it like a normal double feed did the trick and I was back in business in moments (plus the time to record the moment for all to see my foolishness ;) ).

No more malfunctions, even after I went back to shooting left-handed and upside down, as I was when I induced this disaster.

I was having the same problem with one of my AR's and found out the cure was to replace the follower in the mag with a Magpul Enhanced. Hasn't happened since...
