I am fairly certain that that AK is Russian and very old. I say this because of the weird "piece" that sticks out behind the receiver. I have only seen old Russian milled receiver guns with an attachment like that. The other gun I saw was Hungarian, but the receiver was stamped.

BTW- I have two of them in my armory here in country. One is dated 1955.

IIRC that pic was taken here in Iraq a few years back. The weapon was alleged to have been taken from an insurgent. My guess about the handle/ stock is that they couldn't locate a correct one to fit it, so someone just improvised. Hajji does that shit all the time and it never ceases to amaze.
