Grant's recent thread on his one-of-a-kind S&W 3953 sparked my interest in this gun. However, being discontinued by S&W and not listed on CA's "safe handgun roster", I figured I had a slim to none chance of getting my hands on a 3953.

During a recent visit to my LGS, I discovered this gem just tagged for private party consignment.

It's NO WHERE near as trick as the 1 of 1 G&R Tactical Limited Edition, but it's a lucky find for me nonetheless. The fit and finish on this 3rd gen S&W is pretty impressive. Without the slide-mounted safety, it's a very slim gun.

Only put 100 rounds of WWB through it so far, but it's a pleasant gun to shoot. Next up is function testing with a few boxes of 147 gr. Golden Sabers and a lighter Wolff mainspring.

That is a nice 3rd Gen you acquired there! I wish I could find a Model 3953 locally. Congrats!

I bought it's big brother, the 4053, NIB from CDNN a few months ago for $399.00. Well worth it...

Four hundred. Not the best deal in the world, but considering the fact that I cannot import this gun into the CA from an out-of-state seller, I didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

We carried S&W here for almost 20 years, a reliable and underappreciated line of guns.

Shoot the shit out of it, the trigger will smooth up.
