We have a citizens police academy in my town and I taught the firearms portion. The class is designed to create community good will and introduce citizens to what its like to be a police officer. For the firearms class I took them all to the range after a hour of gun safety in the class room. Each student was heavily supervised. I let them shoot the following guns.
A Glock 22 in 40 sw.

my Colt patrol rifle

My 870 patrol shotgun.

The students loved the AR. All of them shot relatively well with it for their first time. I blotted their faces out of the photos to protect their identity.

All of them wanted to pose with the AR.

All of them had a good time and a lot of gun myths were dispelled and they learned that black rifles are not evil.

What is all that white stuff?

Good job on the citizens academy. Now put them in the car with you. That seems to wake a lot of people up.

We took them all on ride alongs too. But its pretty dead here in the winter. Not much to see other than a few dui's and dv's. Not like where your at.

As for the white stuff. This winter sucks. Its April and we had a snow storm today. You would have thought it was October.

The economy is keeping us employed currently. Good in some ways, horrible in others.

It was 38 2 nights ago here (Fla). The day before that night......83. Mother nature and her mood swings.

Like October? Ugh, I don't miss 6 months of winter (used to live in Chicago)... I like the 1 day a year we have a "there might be snow/freezing rain" warning...

Looks like a pretty successful venture and a fun day to boot.
