I picked up a 442 today as a BUG, and I'm looking for recommendations on different ways to carry and also looking for holster options. So far I'm considering the raven concealment pocket holster and raven phantom OWB. I'd also be interested in recommendations for an ankle holster for deep concealment.

I like RCS gear a lot, but for pocket carry of my 442 I use a DeSantis Nemesis holster. It's cheap, effective, and comfortable. I have a Phantom holster for my 442 from RCS that I use in certain circumstances.

Pocket carry has always worked very well for me as a means of packing J frames.

I've never been a big fan of ankle rigs.

As for "deep concealment", that depends on how you define "deep". Galco makes a very nice belly band style holster with leather pockets (so as to avoid the dreaded elastic pocket sag) that would probably work fine for the purpose.

Ive been using a Mika holster. Takes a few months but worth the wait IMO.

I use blackhawks CQC sportster. Because of a back issue I had to switch it to a crossdraw position on the front of my left hip. I've found that it conceals really well so far. We'll see what happens when summer comes. But with a sweatshirt it doesn't print at all and I don't have to worry about bending down to look at or pick up something.

At work I just use a cheap uncle mikes pocket holster. I used to use a belly band type holster that I secured to my vest with a velcro strap my belly outgrew it and made if feel like a girdle instead of a holster.

If I'm carrying on the belt, it's something more substantial than a 442.

UM in a pocket holster. Alessi for the ankle.

The following have worked best for me:

Bob Mika for pocket holster, hands down the best pocket holsters on the planet (and I've tried them all). Renegade (Phoenix, AZ) for ankle holster. Galco Speed Scabbard for belt holster. But I must say, everyday of the week I have a Mika holster in my pants pocket with either a Model 60 J frame or an Interarms .380 PPK.

Another vote for the Mika pocket holster. He's retired LAPD, if that makes a difference for you.

Another second for Lou Alessi's work on an ankle holster, if you are forced into that mode of carry. His passing was a loss to the industry.

I am 100% sold on the kydex pocket holster from www.aholster.com

I now own two of these and carry my SW 340 in it every day. One is a left-hand model for when I am carrying it as my backup to a larger sidearm, and the other is a right-hand model for when I am carrying it and it only. The nice thing about the kydex is that it completely breaks up the distinctive outline of the J-frame cylinder, plus the holster has two "hooks" molded into the contour that keep it locked into your pocket when you draw.

These photos were taken using my wife's SW 642, of course. My 340 is the same size just chambered in .357 Mag. ;)
