Well, I bought my first AR a couple of months ago, an LMT MRP, which I am very happy with. I went to a gun show today and purchased a Remington 700 SPS Tactical. I'm pretty excited about this rifle. It will be my deer hunting rifle, and a plinker. As far as the show goes, they had quite a few AR's. A few Sig 556's, Colt 6920's, 6940, and a couple LWRC. Prices are still up a little, but coming down slowly it would appear. I paid $569 for my rifle today, which I thought was a decent price. I'll put a couple pics up when I get my scope mounted.

Post your shot groups (and level of ability) when you get a chance. I hear the SPS line is one of the best values in accuracy.

Congrats on the Rifle.

Thanks will do! Wow, I didn't realize how much a decent set of rings and a mount would cost. This will delay things a little. I have a baby girl that's due today, but that looks like it will be a no-go as of right now, but you never know. I might just have to get a pic of it up without the scope on for now.

I bought the exact same rifle for my wife a month back. I also got glass for it, but have not gotten it mounted yet. I was waiting to get everything mounted before I post up the pics of it though.

She said she loves the feel of the hogue stock and grip....I just hope she can handle the .308 :D

Mike,

Go over to Sniper's Hide. They have a forum about optics/mounts and many threads that discus high quality/low price rings and mounts.
I'm sure you will find an answer over there to get you by.

take a good look at the stock, i handled one and with some pressure, the forend of the stock could flex enough to tough the barrel pretty easy. might not be trouble on the bench, but once you sling it up, it could cause issues.

nice rifle nonetheless. congrats

So I couldn't wait any longer and I picked up some Leupold Standard Rings and base. This will mostly be for deer, but if I need to change into some long range fun and this setup isn't working I will not be out much. Here is an update. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
