View Full Version : Has anyone heard of this model? M&P15, SW311000
Seems exactly like the 811000, but I can't find any details on it - thx!
you mean this (http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=SW-311000)?
it looks the same as a plain jane mp15- what am I missing?

Any chance that "3" is a typo?

Yeah that!
I've only seen this number scheme in about three different places. And you're right it does look like a standard MP15. That's the confusing part!
Is it possible that the number is for a "compliant" model and they are simply using the post ban image for advertising?
Just a thought, cause I have no idea. I just know that S&W does have compliant model MP's they sell in NY.

I read a thread on another forum which stated it was a LEO model, but I can't confirm that - got tired of waiting for S&W support to come online yesterday.

Mystery solved!
Called S&W tech support today, and the 311000 model is a LEO sku and has stricter tolerances than the 811000 model, but the designs are identical.
Cheers

So they have different standards for LE guns vs. normal joe's?
.
I doubt it but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe they are just assembled by a different set of more experienced employees separate from the regular line with more attention to detail kind of like Remington does for the 870 vs. the 870P for shotguns.

The cost of running two lines would not be worth it. My guess is they get an extra look from a QC tech during the build process.

The guy made a comment about sturdier parts, but you are probably right. The cost would be very high to maintain, I would think.
