I have heard that the army armorers used to make short 1911s for generals or whatever. Is this true? Any pics?

Is this it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M15_pistol
Any info on these?
Yes and yes. I can't remember much about them but thats them. They replaced the old Colt Pocket Model Ms in .32 and .380 until the M9 General Officers model came out.
Yup, that is them. I shot the CG's at Ft Devens once when I was stationed there. Fit and finish was above a Commercial Colt and it put our rack grade 1911's to shame as far as accurracy.
I remember quite awhile ago (possibly 20 yrs. ago) seeing some pics & reading an article or two about some smaller Colts made for generals. I don't keep periodicals very long, I'll check in my library for references to these - I have some older books on pistolsmithing & 1911s have always been a favorite of mine. I'll post if I find any verifiable information.
