I decided to adjust my trigger on the my 700P. I can not for the life of me get the engagement screw to come loose. I got the other 2 but starting to strip the engagement screw. Suggestions? Do they make screw extractors small enough to get in there?

I would let some Kroil soak over night and then try it again ensuring the screwdriver bit is fitted the best you can. If that doesn't work I would have a smith get it out, or even take it there to begin with.

I'll try that. The tool fit wasn't perfect but I felt it was definitely close enough. If I end up bombing it, it'll just be a good reason to get a nifty new trigger.

I broke a screw on mine. Ended up replacing it with a Jewell, but I should have just gone to a smith to begin with.

Same on I'm talking about? Broke or stripped? Did you try a screw extractor? Do they make them that small? Thanks.

I don't think I want or need a jewell. From my research the stock trigger is fine, just needs to be adjusted.

It's been so long, I can't recall which screw. The material on one side of the screw slot sheared off. I didn't try an extractor. I probably could have grabbed it with some pliers, but I decided I would rather get a Jewell than to try to find a good smith (read: lazy).

If the Kroil does loosen it up, find a smith. Don't force it.

Yup. Gave up and just removed the entire assembly. Figured I'm either going to a smith and/or buying a new trigger so why not disassemble and learn something. Severely aggravating when you have the right tools and good instructions and can't get $%#@ done. A screw beat me. :o

What should a trigger install cost?

You can get a 700 trigger at brownells. This is what I have on my 700. Breaks like glass and adjustment is easy.

I actually got it back together. Thank god for boredom. I however seem to have lost the small spring at the end of the trigger weight spring. This of course makes the gun unsafe. Can someone tell me which of these links contain the spring I need?

Just to be clear, the large spring that sits vertically, I still have. The small one that is at the end of the bottom screw at the front of the trigger assembly is the one I am missing. Located at the end of the TRIGGER WEIGHT SCREW pictured here:

If neither, anyone that can help? Thanks

This one appears to have the correct springs.

Thank you. Found a good schematic while I was looking around.

Ok, one more thing to add that shows my ignorance.

I got the trigger spring installed and went to working the bolt. Works fine. No discharges when slamming the bolt, flicking the safety, or jarring the weapon. It seems to hold fine under normal and rough usage.

One question though. After the trigger is pulled and I go to cycle the bolt: If I only rotate the bolt up and back down without pull it back, it doesn't hold. If I pull the bolt back a fraction of an inch it holds just like normal.

Obviously when using the weapon the bolt would be pulled all the way back and I've functioned check the shit out of that process and I'm satisfied with it. I just can't remember if the stock set up, before I started f-ing with this, did the same thing.

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance. Laugh all you want at me, I learn by breaking things! :p

Yep, in my stock set up, When rotating the bolt up, and not moving it back at all, she holds just like you had pulled the bolt all the way back to the rear. Good bad or indifferent, I couldn't tell ya. But that is what my stocker does...

It should fully set by rotating it. Trigger is not adjusted correctly.

You are right. It was a sear spring and screw issue. I fixed it. Good learning experience so far.
